About Item
IFFCO Bio-Decomposer is a microbial-based agricultural decomposer containing a group of beneficial microorganisms that rapidly converts crop residues, animal waste, cow dung, and other biodegradable agricultural waste into nutrient-rich organic manure.
Delivery
Overview
IFFCO Bio-Decomposer is a biological crop-residue management product developed to accelerate the decomposition of agricultural and organic waste.
The formulation consists of a consortium/group of beneficial microorganisms capable of breaking down crop residues, animal waste, dung, and other biodegradable materials and converting them into useful organic manure.
IFFCO reports that the improved Bio-Decomposer was introduced by its Cooperative Rural Development Trust (CORDET) using technology sourced from ICAR-IARI, New Delhi.

About the Product
IFFCO Bio-Decomposer provides beneficial microorganisms that accelerate the biological breakdown of organic agricultural material.
When the prepared decomposer solution is applied to crop residues or composting material under suitable moisture conditions, microbial activity helps break down the organic matter and gradually convert it into manure.
This provides farmers with a productive way to manage post-harvest crop residues instead of treating them purely as waste. IFFCO describes Bio-Decomposer as an inexpensive and effective technology for agricultural waste and crop-residue management.

Recommended Crops & Uses
IFFCO Bio-Decomposer is primarily intended for crop-residue and organic-waste management rather than being restricted to one particular crop.
Crop Residue Management
Can be incorporated into residue-management programs involving materials such as:
- Paddy straw/residue
- Wheat residue
- Sugarcane residues
- Maize residues
- Cotton residues
- Pulse crop residues
- Vegetable crop residues
- Other biodegradable agricultural residues
Organic Manure Preparation
IFFCO specifically recommends it for decomposition of:
- Agricultural waste
- Crop residues
- Cow dung
- Animal waste
- Other biodegradable organic waste
IFFCO also states that Bio-Decomposer can have applications in seed treatment, foliar use, and drip irrigation; these uses should be carried out according to the manufacturer's directions.
Application Guidelines
Preparation of Bio-Decomposer Solution
According to IFFCO's official instructions:
- Take 750 g jaggery and add it to 25 litres of water.
- Boil the jaggery solution and remove impurities.
- Allow the solution to cool in a suitable clean container.
- Add 250 g gram flour and mix thoroughly.
- Add the contents of one 50 g Bio-Decomposer pack.
- Cover the container with a thin cloth and keep it in a warm location.
- Stir the preparation occasionally.
- Microbial growth begins after approximately two days.
- Allow the culture to develop for approximately 7–10 days.
For Field Spraying
IFFCO instructs that the prepared culture can be mixed with 125 litres of water for uniform field spraying.
Crop Residue Decomposition
After harvesting, IFFCO recommends spraying prepared Bio-Decomposer solution at approximately:
20 litres per acre over crop residues, followed by irrigation.
In water-deficient areas, IFFCO describes an alternative application of 200 litres per acre on crop residues, with decomposition beginning when irrigation subsequently provides adequate moisture.
Compost Preparation
IFFCO states that prepared culture mixed into approximately 125 litres of water can be applied to around 1–1.5 tonnes of waste material for manure preparation.
Mode of Action
IFFCO Bio-Decomposer works through the activity of beneficial microorganisms.
After activation and application under suitable moisture conditions, the microbial consortium colonizes biodegradable crop residues and organic waste.
These microorganisms accelerate biological decomposition, gradually breaking complex organic materials into simpler substances and helping convert the residue into organic manure.
Maintaining adequate moisture and periodically turning compost material helps sustain microbial activity and decomposition.
Benefits
- Accelerates crop-residue decomposition
- Converts agricultural waste into organic manure
- Useful for compost preparation
- Helps decompose animal waste and dung
- Supports recycling of crop residues
- Provides an alternative to residue burning
- Helps return organic matter to agricultural soil
- Supports soil microbial activity
- Helps improve soil fertility through organic matter recycling
- Economical crop-residue management solution
- Suitable for farm-level compost preparation
- Helps reduce waste-management costs
- Supports environmentally responsible farming practices
IFFCO additionally states that the product can contribute to lower production costs and improved farm income through better utilization of agricultural waste.
Compost Preparation Guidelines
For preparing organic manure, IFFCO recommends making an approximately 18–20 cm thick layer of agricultural waste, cow dung, kitchen waste, or other suitable biodegradable material.
Spray the prepared Bio-Decomposer solution over the layer. Add another layer of similar thickness and spray again.
Repeat this process approximately 3–4 times, followed by another application over the top layer.
Turn the pile approximately every 7 days and maintain around 60–65% moisture during composting. Under suitable conditions, IFFCO states that quality organic manure can be prepared in approximately 30–40 days.
Storage Instructions
Storage
Store IFFCO Bio-Decomposer in its original sealed packaging in a cool, dry location protected from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture.
Because it is a biological product containing beneficial microorganisms, appropriate storage conditions are important for maintaining microbial viability.
