Overview
FMC Authority® NXT Herbicide is an advanced pre-emergence herbicide developed to protect crops during the critical early growth stage when weed competition can significantly reduce yield. It combines Sulfentrazone, a PPO inhibitor, with Clomazone, a carotenoid biosynthesis inhibitor, providing two complementary modes of action for superior weed management.
The product is selective and systemic, offering long-duration control of both grassy and broadleaf weeds while minimizing the risk of herbicide resistance. Its residual activity keeps fields weed-free for an extended period, allowing crops to establish strong root systems and achieve better productivity.

About the Product
Authority® NXT provides effective weed control before weeds emerge, eliminating competition during the most critical crop growth period. Sulfentrazone inhibits PPO enzyme activity, causing rapid destruction of weed cell membranes, while Clomazone inhibits carotenoid biosynthesis, resulting in bleaching and death of emerging weeds.
Its dual-action technology provides excellent residual weed control, reduces dependence on repeated herbicide applications, and supports sustainable weed management programs. It has no known cross-resistance with many commonly used herbicide classes, making it an excellent resistance management tool.
Key Features
Dual Mode of Action
Combines Sulfentrazone and Clomazone for highly effective broad-spectrum weed control.
Broad-Spectrum Weed Control
Controls annual grasses, broadleaf weeds, and selected sedges from the beginning of crop growth.
Pre-Emergence Protection
Prevents weed emergence, reducing crop competition during establishment.
Long Residual Activity
Provides extended weed suppression throughout the critical crop growth period.
Systemic Herbicide
Absorbed by emerging weeds and translocated within the plant for effective control.
Reduced Labour Cost
Minimizes the need for multiple herbicide sprays and manual weeding.
Resistance Management
Two different modes of action help delay herbicide resistance development.
Improves Crop Establishment
Keeps fields weed-free, allowing crops to utilize nutrients, moisture, and sunlight efficiently.
Recommended Crops
Recommended for:
- Sugarcane
- Soybean
Controls weeds such as:
- Barnyard Grass (Echinochloa spp.)
- Crab Grass (Digitaria spp.)
- Bermuda Grass (Cynodon dactylon)
- Nut Grass (Cyperus rotundus)
- Day Flower (Commelina spp.)
- Copper Leaf (Acalypha spp.)
- False Amaranth (Digera spp.)
- Congress Grass (Parthenium hysterophorus)
- Garden Spurge (Euphorbia spp.)
- Nalta Jute (Corchorus spp.)
Application Guidelines
Soil Surface Spray
Apply uniformly over moist soil immediately after sowing or planting and before weed emergence.
Recommended Dosage
- 500 g per acre
- Apply using 150–200 litres of water per acre with a flat-fan nozzle for uniform soil coverage.
Best Application Stage
- Immediately after sowing or planting
- Before weed germination
- Ensure adequate soil moisture for best performance.
Frequency
Generally, one application per crop season provides effective residual weed control under recommended conditions.
